"Io, l'altro" dramma sul peschereccio  di Marzia ApiceDa quando Yousef, tunisino, è sbarcato sulle coste della Sicilia, la terra di Giuseppe, i due non si sono più lasciati. Giuseppe e Yousef, stesso nome in due lingue diverse, sembrano essere uniti non soltanto da un’amicizia fraterna, ma anche dallo stesso destino. Dopo dieci anni di condivisione, di complicità, di duro lavoro come pescatori in mezzo al mare, i due amici comprano Medea, un piccolo peschereccio usato, simbolo dell’affrancamento dall’ex padrone Troina, che li ha sfruttati senza farsi troppi scrupoli. La vita continua tra mille difficoltà, perché la pesca non è sempre abbondante, né assicurata tutti i giorni. Restano i debiti della barca da pagare e Troina controlla il mercato locale del pesce con atteggiamenti da mafioso. Ma improvvisamente tutto si sgretola. Dopo l’attentato terroristico al treno di Madrid, si cercano i responsabili: la radio annuncia che Yousef è il terrorista che la Polizia sta cercando, autore di quella strage atroce. In realtà si tratta di un caso d’omonimia, ma per Giuseppe comincia un calvario psicologico, che lo porterà a guardare l’amico di sempre con occhi diversi, sospettosi, increduli. Basta poco e la situazione degenera. Giuseppe e Yousef non si riconoscono più, o meglio, trovano l’uno nell’altro la materializzazione delle proprie paure, quelle che spingono a considerare l’altro da sé come qualcosa di diverso e dunque di minaccioso. La barca diventa un mondo a parte, un piccolo microcosmo in cui affiorano i pregiudizi dell’una e dell’altra parte, in cui la follia non lascia più spazio al dialogo. In mezzo al mare, Giuseppe e Yousef, entrambi vittime e carnefici, diventano essi stessi il simbolo della guerra che insanguina il nostro mondo. Questa è la trama di Io, l’altro, l’ultimo film del regista tunisino Mohsen Melliti, interpretato da Raoul Bova, che ne è anche produttore, e da Giovanni Martorana. Una buona prova per i due attori, ma, nonostante la tematica attuale e drammatica, il film non decolla. Sicuramente coraggiosa è stata la scelta di girare quasi tutto il film sul peschereccio, mostrando nient’altro che i visi dei protagonisti, il cielo e il mare. Sebbene non avremmo sopportato più degli ottanta minuti del film, Io, l’altro resta un progetto lodevole e un film comunque interessante, che ci costringe a riflettere e a guardarci dentro.
